Viola Falb
Born in 1980 in Austria, Viola Falb studied at the University of Music und Performative Arts Vienna – Saxophone Jazz with Klaus Dickbauer, Wolfgang Puschnig; finished Masterstudies in 2007 with destinction. Further studies include: studies in Berlin at the Hochschule „Hanns Eisler“ with Gebhard Ullmann; studies in New York City with Greg Osby, Steve Lehman, Ellery Eskelin, Hal Crook; Studies of Jazzcomposition at the Bruckner Uni Linz with Christoph Cech.
She won several prizes: 2004/06 winner of the Jazzzeit Audienze Award; 2005 supporting award of the ministry: The New Austrian Sound of Music; Winner of the HANS KOLLER JAZZ AWARD: NEWCOMER of the YEAR 2008; 2010 Finals of the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Competition (Composition).
